Hiii I was wondering if NYU is a good school, or is it getting more credit than it deserves? thanks!

Yes it is a good school. It depends on the subject of course, but it tends to have great connections in the city and many people desire it for its urban life and international outlook. But what is more important is whether the school is a good fit for you (assuming you’re interested in it) It is sometimes overrated in some sense that a less expensive degree from a state school will sometimes serve you just as well as nyu, as it is very expensive, but overall if you do well at the school, it can be advantageous when going out to the real world

Depends on the definition of a good school, it’s widely considered as a good one.

Yes, but their financial aid supposedly isn’t good.

Yes, it’s considered a good school - but, just as @halcyonheather said - their financial aid is questionable. I believe NYU produces the most student debt of any institution in the United States (at least not-for-profit) - a lot of their aid packages are quite a bit of loans more so than grants but its own phenomenal in house marketing plus the success of shows like Gossip Girl and Sex in the City have romanticized the school and NYC to the point that a lot of kids disregard the massive debt they need to take on to attend. NYU isn’t selling an education. They’re selling an ~experience~.

NYU also has one of the top law schools in the nation - it’s usually ranked alongside Cornell and Columbia.

Yes

Definitely! I’ve heard both the business school and Tisch School of the Arts are pretty good. But it all depends on what you’re comparing it to though.

Good at making you poor.

It’s a decent school but I’d hate going there.

Only if you get into Stern or are rich.
