Is NYU a safety school?

Hi! I'm curious abut a few things regarding NYU:
- Is it selective? A potential "safety" option?
- How is the neuroscience (+philosophy) department?

(I'm an international, so my chances are probably smaller.)

SAT: working on getting a 2100-2200
-subject Bio M: 730
-subject French: 700

(No APs, they're not offered in Norway)

Thank you!

Stern would be a moderate reach, CAS would be a likely match, Gallatin and Steinhardt would be matches depending on essays, and LSP would be a safety.

I’m sorry, but could you explain what those are? I’m not familiar with all the different schools, systems etc

NYU is my dream school.

Stern definitely is not a “moderate reach”

It’s acceptance rate is only 15%.

U.S. News & World Report college rankings list NYU as “most selective”. Sorry, but I would not consider it a “safety school” with your stats. FYI, CAS stands for the College of Arts and Science which I believe is the school you would be interested in within NYU. Please see the NYU website regarding the different schools and the majors offered.

Although I wouldn’t consider NYU a “safety” for you doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance of being admitted but do some more research on the program you’re interested in and educate yourself about NYU in general before applying. If you’re interested in NYU as a “safety” sounds like your dream school is someplace else. Good luck.
