Is NYU realistic for me?

What are my chances at NYU?

Chances?

Hispanic

Ranked 5/972. Take into account that my high school is really bad.

GPA 4:30.

SAT: 2020 (650 V, 690 M, 680 W, 12 on essay). Taking it again in November, expecting at least a 2100.

SAT II
Spanish :770
Math IIC: expecting around 700 (I already took it)
Math IC: 650, not sure if I should mention this on my app.

EC's:

-Model UN 10,11
-French Honor society 10,11,12 - treasurer
-Outdoor appreciation club
-Key club
-Physics League
-Psychology club (hopefully I'll get a title of some sort)
-10 hours of community service
-Umpired for my Little League (got paid for it) 9,10
-I've made over $1,000 on eBay (again, not sure if I should mention on app)

I've heard that admission into NYU guarantees admission into Stern. Is this true, and if it is, how does that work?

I think NYU is realistic for you but don't count on Stern unless you raise your SAT scores. And getting into NYU does not guarantee acceptance into Stern, you have to apply to Stern directly and be accepted.

what would you be majoring in, just curious

hispanic with a 2000+, and top 1%?

if he goes to a bad public high shcool, hes allowed a lower sat score

your def in, even stern.

thats great news, mattistotle. collegehopeful99 you're golden, HAH, mattistotle knows his NYU!!!

Just for your information...you don't get to "choose" which SAT II scores (or any scores for that matter) that ETS sends to the colleges. When you tell them to send your scores to colleges they send ALL of them.

At this point, I'm not sure. It will either be marketing (if I get into a b-school) or psychology--maybe economics. Consumer psychology is my thing. I just want to put myself in the best position to get into Ross/Wharton for my MBA.

What gpa would you need for the school of arts and sciences after attending cuny queens college for one year? If you go to Queens for one year and do very well there do they not look at your gpa from high school and put very little emphasis on your sat scores? Any honest imputs would be appreciated Thank You

College work definitely has clout, they can see that you can handle the college work. I am not sure whether you should do just one year, or finish the two year program, check w/ NYU to make sure you are optimizing the amount of credits they will take.. Good luck,

i just love the 10 hours of community service and ebay thing... ;) i'm almost in the same exact situation except i'm asian-indian
i go to a very bad high school with about 25% planning attending college, ranked #3, and 2070 on sat...but i think u got a edge over me...cuz ur hispanic... ... ...
