Is Ohio University's Gateway Scholarship guaranteed?

Ohio University's website says students are "considered" for the Gateway Award Program. Is the Gateway Excellence Scholarship guaranteed if a student has a 3.0 GPA and an ACT score of 32 or above? That would be full tuition. Are there other scholarships available for students with a 3.0 GPA and an ACT score of 32 or above to cover room and board, etc.?

S1 was awarded a Gateway Award with a 3.10 GPA and a 30 on his ACT. We didn’t have to fill out a separate application. He ultimately chose not to go to Ohio but I always thought the Gateway program was the best one out there. You might want to look at some of the threads about schools with good financial aid here on CC.

First of all, the OU web site says scholarships will be different for Fall of '14 than they were for '13.

But even for '13 it doesn’t appear that any are automatic: “The program is designed to blend merit and need-based aid to eligible students.” - so they have a need-based component.

There’s also a lot of language about “when will I find out if I received it” and so on.

Thanks. The OU website on scholarships is confusing, hence my question. Somewhere on here I read OU Gateway listed as guaranteed but that’s not the way I read it. My daughter has a 3.9 GPA and received a 32 on her ACT. I am of course hoping for the full tuition scholarship from OU. I guess I will just have to wait and see.
