I’m likely going to get a B+ for the quarter (not the semester) in my Algebra 2 Honors class. I’m currently a freshman shooting for top schools. Will this B+ mess things up for me in the future? Should I be worried?
One B+ is not a big deal.
No. It is okay to have challenged yourself in hard courses and gotten an occasional B or B+. Your application will be looked at as a whole.
Pretty sure your school only prints semester grades.
Don’t worry! And please don’t think of high school as pre-college. Of course you want to work hard and do well but have fun too. Do the things you want to do, not what you think an ideal student should be doing. You’ll be happier, and it will probably give you more positive and enthusiastic college applications. Start thinking about college the end of your junior year. There are hundreds of terrific schools in the U.S. with beautiful campuses, great students, and top-notch professors. “Middle-tier” universities often get hundreds of applications for faculty positions–so they can be very selective. The most prestigious schools might not be the best fit for you (but maybe one of them will). I’m not saying doing well is not important, just that stressing about something far down the road will probably not make a young person as happy as taking advantage of your youth–learning things, meeting people, figuring out who you are, just having fun, not having a mortgage payment. Good luck with high school (and college applications 3 years from now)!
Thanks for the responses!
I really appreciate the advice TTG.
