Is one D bad when applying to college? Should I retake?

The only school I want to go to is the University of Hawaii at Manoa. It’s requirements are at least a 2.8 GPA and a 520 on each section of the SAT. Their average SAT admit score is a 1600 and GPA is a 3.5ish

I just finished up junior year of high school. Freshman and Sophomore year I got a 3.67 overall GPA with no grades lower than A’s and B’s. Junior year I enrolled in a program called middle college. Basically, its dual enrollment. I am taking both community college and high school classes to meet graduation requirements. First semester, I got all A’s in both college and high school classes, except for a B+ in a one credit college career course. My overall GPA was a 3.94; however, this semester I got a 3.75 overall high school GPA (3 A’s and one B+) and a 2.7 college GPA. I got an A and B+ in two three credit courses, then a D in trigonometry. Overall, my GPA for that semester is approx. a 3.2ish I think. In addition, I got a 1920 on mt SAT’s.

The reason I got a D in math is because I had a night class only twice a week and my teacher wasn’t very good. I was always behind on hw because I spent a lot of time teaching myself. She told us we could turn in late homework, which I planned on doing, but then she changed her mind and so basically all the homework I did, I couldn’t turn in. In addition, she was hospitalized the last month and a half of school, so we had a sub and I had no contact with her whatsoever. I understand the concepts of Trig perfectly fine, but an unfortunate series of events prompted me to get the grade I did.

My question is… should I retake math? My other grades/GPA is strong and my SAT score is over 300 points higher than the average for UH Manoa. Do you think I would be able to get in with the D??
