So the first semester of my sophomore year I took Honors Algebra II, biggest mistake ever. I got a D+. Second semester I switched to regular Algebra II and got an A. Because I passed it second semester they didnt make me retake it junior year so I took Trig/Pre Calc. I wasn't able to retake it because my school's summer school did not have Honors Algebra II as an option. I'm applying to a few UCs, Cal States, and Privates. I have a lot of sure shots on my list. I've taken AP classes, other honors classes and have passed them all. I have a lot of extracurricular activities and a solid GPA. Are my chances ruined? Can I still apply to colleges? Are colleges going to turn me down because of that?

Honestly I doubt it will have a huge impact. Will it weaken your transcript, yes, though I doubt you will be flat out rejected because of the D. Though if you are applying to really competitive school it might hurt you more.
