I'm currently a junior and I haven't been taking any AP's but my grades at all very high. I am definitely going to take at least a 2 or 3 AP (maybe all AP if school will let me) during my senior year. Assuming I maintain high grades next year, have great test scores, strong EC's and great recommendations, is the lack of AP classes for the first 3 years of high school going to kill my chances at getting into a college such as NYU, BC, BU?

NYU is a possibility, not necessarily a reach by any means. BU? That’s an ivy league. Come on. They want the cream of the crop, someone with a background and an amazing story. Someone who’s done something. You can’t get into a school like BU just with high scores and good grades and classes.

I really can’t tell if he’s trolling or not.

Maybe just a dbag, judging by his reliance on Collegeboard school matches.

Even if I am a ■■■■■, why don’t you reply to this person’s concerns?

I understand what you are going through. I spent all day looking through Google to see if someone has a similar situation as i do. I decided to not take AP classes this year because of a very time consuming EC outside of school. I’m an actress with an agency (home schooled) and need to be available at all times. If i happened to get an audition on the day of the AP test, oh well, I have to go to the audition. Its my job.
I think If you have an excuse, like i do, as to why you may not have taken AP classes that year, make sure to tell them. Also, see that you have very good SAT and SAT Subject Scores. You can make up for a lot with this. Good EC’s help too. Instead of the AP classes this year, I’m taking 3 Honors Classes (9 classes totally). I’m also an ambassador (AKA mentor) at my school. I don’t know what your situation is, but this can definitely help.
Always remember that college admissions is subjective. They could or could not take you for a number of reasons that have nothing to do with how many AP classes you took Junior year. I have seen some people here who have taken 11 AP classes and STILL don’t get in. Just make sure that your senior year schedule is Rigorous! I think I’m taking 5 AP’s with 8 classes total. You might also want to look into interesting summer programs or summer classes at your CC. Its never too late!
I hope this helped. =)
