I have orientation in early July and I just wanted to know from older students if it is a good time. Is everyone friendly and outgoing and willing to try and make friends. I'm pretty excited about going at the moment.

I had a great time at orientation. I didn’t really keep any of the friends I met there but everyone was looking to be social for sure.

Yes, IF you spend time in advance researching courses and course requirements and come in with a long list of possible courses. If you have your heart set on a particular course, and don’t get in your first semester, don’t be disappointed. Remember you will have 7 more semesters to pick, including years when you will get preference over younger students.

You also need to be flexible about course times.

If you do this, it will free you up to enjoy the orientation.

Random question, but do we get matched up with random roommates for orientation? All my friends in other colleges have, but I’ve heard that Gooch Dillard and Hereford are mostly singles.

I got matched with a random roommate, most people had singles.

I met my future boyfriend there, so I’d say it’s pretty fun People were very friendly and outgoing–it made me so excited to start my first year.
