Is OSU worth it w/o national buckeye scholarship?

Already accepted to OSU. Always been a favorite of mine but I’m completely undecided if I want to go there. I’m OOS in New York and will probably not be recieving the Buckeye Scholarship (4.0 gpa but 1 point lower than the ACT score required). Anyways, I come from not the best financial family perhaps just under middle class? Anyways, is OSU worth all the debt or what? I want to go there but the cost is making me think twice. Want to be a comp sci major btw.

Did you submit your application for special scholarships and FAFSA?

Yep, applied for special scholarships and did FAFSA already. Although I don’t know when I’m suppose to hear back for special scholarships.

You don’t say how much debt you will have. For loans, you personally as a student are limited to:

Student Federal Direct Loan
freshman 5,500
sophomore 6,500
jr 7,500
sr 7,500

can parents take out loans?

I would not advise taking on extra debt to attend OSU. If you graduate as a CS major I don’t think you will find that you will make more money because you went to OSU. Your starting salary is going to be about the same from any reputable school. What are your options other than OSU? Where are their CS grads getting jobs? Is the job placement near 100% (it should be right now)?

I also advise against taking on large debt to attend OSU.
Starting out your life and career with huge debt is a big handicap.

Find a good school compatible with your major, career goals, and budget.

My undergraduate degree was from a lower ranked, reasonably priced college.
And I don’t regret it. I was still able to go to graduate school and reach my career goals.
