Is Penn State Really A Party School?

Penn State is always ranked one of the highest party schools on pretty much any website. Does it live up to the standard? If so, how crazy is it? I'm not picking schools based of the parties, just wondering.

Basically haha their state pattys day weekend is absolutely nuts and if you wanna see how every other weekend is watch the YouTube videos of “im shmacked at penn state”

It is for sure a party school ( I know because I live there haha). Parties happen all the time but just because there are parties does not mean its not an awesome academic school with really smart students. Penn state students know how to have fun haha
You get the best of both worlds :)

Yes, Penn State - like most large state universities - has a big party atmosphere. But you can choose whether or not you want to participate in it.

As the previous poster said, EVERY big school, and many small schools are party schools because someone’s always throwing a party. my DS is a freshman (and yes, he goes to parties on Saturday nights), but he also spends alot of time in his dorm and at Study Hall so it’s all what you make of it. Just be aware of your priorities.

I’m a student at PSU now and I can share that it is definitely a party school, not many other schools can compare. Greek life is huge as well as apartment and house parties. It is really easy to balance your school work and reward yourself by going out.
