I know schools like UChicago and Berkeley are known for its tough grading curves while the likes of Stanford are known for their easy ones. Where does penn rank?

depends on the class and professor.

I hope you know that top colleges (even Stanford) is going to be easy as your high school. Even if you took all AP classes.

cdz512, would you please rephrase your comment or elaborate?

Stanford has some grade inflation, as do Yale and Harvard. In that sense it maybe be easier than high school

Well I meant that going to a top college is most likely going to be harder than high school. To me (from what my interpretation of the OP’s question), it seems that the OP is trying to find schools that have easy grading (though it is true that some schools have easier grading than others).

While Stanford technically has grade inflation, it’s only because it’s so ridiculously hard to begin with that they have to do something. People love Stanford, but they have quarter terms, so that you wind up taking 1/3 more classes each year and each of the classes is just as packed as if it were a semester course.
That said, college is going to be hard regardless. And even Brown, with no requirements, is hard. Their orgo classes are supposed to painful.
Penn is supposed to be pretty fair, but of course it’s hard.

hmmm…i’m kinda worried about wharton grading but i’ve heard that the college is less competitive w/ grading and curves. so, yeahh if yr thinking about applying cas, i wouldn’t worry about unfairness or irregular grading.

The DP loves to publish the statistic that 54% of grades given in the college are an A or A-.

Most of the grading is pretty fair. The only tough part are the rare classes (can only think of a few) where there are strict curves and the average grade is over 90%. You can’t complain about strict 25 35 30 Curves when averages are bellow 65%.

“The DP loves to publish the statistic that 54% of grades given in the college are an A or A-.” does this include intro bio and chem classes?

Honestly, IMHO choosing which college to go to should not be totally about which one has easier grading and like wise. People who attend top colleges (Ivies and equivalents) know that it is going to be hard, almost always you’re going to get hit with classes that is just going to be difficult to get a good grades in. There are a good amount of hard working students at these top schools are quite proud of getting a B in a certain class.
