Is Pepperdine fun and are the students weird church kids?

I really love everything about Pepperdine except one thing: the seemingly nonexistent party scene. But I also only know what Pepperdine is like from an outsiders perspective and from their alcohol policy and such. So are there parties? Are they off campuses? Do sororities and fraternities have kickbacks where they consume alcohol? I know they have a zero alcohol policy but does that mean that my roommate and I will not be able to have “wine night” in our dorm? And don’t get me wrong, I love the church and am Church of Christ myself, but I also know from experience that church kids are either really fun or really lame and weird. What percentage of the students at Pepperdine will be weird church kids and how many will be preachers kids? Also please do not tell me that if I like to engage in activities like drinking that I should not go to a christian school. And I don’t need Pepperdine to be like OU or UT or Arkansas, I just want to know that there is at least a low-key party scene, nothing crazy.

Pepperdine tends to be pretty quiet on the weekends. A lot of people leave campus for the weekends and so there is not usually much going on at least on campus. As far as having a “wine night” in the dorm, it is a very conservative campus and they do enforce their zero alcohol policy. You would definitely face some form of punishment if caught. My experience is 2nd hand- we live fairly close and know quite a few who have attended. I have been on campus on the weekend a number of times and it is usually very quiet. Hopefully someone who currently attends will respond.

You’re C of C and you’re wondering if you can have wine night? That’s interesting. I grew up C of C.

There for sure is a low key party scene but it happens off campus, and the 0 alcohol policy is strictly enforced.
