Hey guys,

I got accepted to Pepperdine with no aid and received a 21,000 annual scholarship from Whittier college. I know Pepperdine has more prestige and more competitive students, but I wanted to know if it's worth its 50,000 tag in terms of job opportunities. I learned from visiting Whittier that you dont have to go to a well-known university to get a good job, so I am leaning towards the money but what do you guys think? Is it worth 50 grand or should I take a scholarship?

Think about yourself in 4 years. Graduating from college with almost no debt is SO underrated! It’s an “I’ll worry about it later” kind of thing. I understand that decision at a place like USC, with HUGE, terrific job opportunities and connections around the world, but a smaller private college like Pepperdine is more known just here in California. I wouldn’t think it would buy you too much in the area of connections. Especially $50,000 worth if money’s what you’re worried about! Pepperdine is a FANTASTIC school, but in the end you’re right… you don’t have to go to a well-known university to get a good job.

I’d say go with Whittier. If you really like it, you’ll have just as much fun AND graduate with less debt. Honestly, if Pepperdine offers me no serious financial help, I can’t afford it either (even though it’s my top choice)!

Whoever told you that is right. The college you attend will not make or break you as long as you work hard wherever you are. Sit tight and wait to see if you receive aid or a scholarship from Pepperdine before you completely rule it out. The top 10% of the incoming class receives 22K to 26K in merit scholarships this is from my admissions counselors email. PM me if you want to read the whole email.

Let’s refresh this thread… Is Pepperdine University worth the price tag?
