Hello, I really like this forum it is well put together. I have a sticky situation, you see I got a C- in first semester Organic Chemistry. I started the course out real strong, but failed the fianal 2-tests. The professor will not let me take second semester Orgo as a result of the C-. My question is what are the chances I can still get into pharmacy school even if I retake first semster Organic chemistry and get high grade? My grades in Bio, physics, general chemistry, and calculus are pretty strong. I was told that organic chemistry is the most important class in determining weather you get into pharmacy school or not. Is there any truth to this? Any feedback greatly appreciated.

You will be OK, as I have seen 2 people get into pharmacy school who both had multiple Cs in chemistry (not highly ranked schools, but legitimate programs nonetheless). They both, however, had decent PCAT scores (75%+, but not too much higher) and plenty of ECs like working at pharmacies, TAing classes, etc. The prestige of the school might be lower than you want, but frankly, if you show improvement I think you will be fine.

The guy I took organic with was no joke, he has his PHD. from university of Rochester and his students average in the 85th percentile on the organic ACS exam. There are three schools near me: wegmans school of parmacy, Buffalo, and Albany I don’t know how these schools rank in terms of prestigiousness. Any advice on which schools are less prestegious schools?
