<p>If you are accepted into UIUC's school of engineering, is there any leeway at all to change you planned major from say, Aerospace Engineering to Electrical? Just curious.</p>
<p>They recommend that you not try to change before end of first year. After that you can change from one engineering major to another fairly easily so as long as you have a decent GPA.</p>
<p>In general, it's easier to switch from a more selective major to a less selective one, so it would be easier to go from ECE to AAE than vice versa. I know students who successfully switched between Engineering majors before classes started, but they recommend that you wait a year since every Engineering major takes very similar classes anyway unless you come in with a ton of AP credit.</p>
