Is PLTW BioMed good?

Hi everyone, my school offers a series of PLTW courses, including BioMed, so I take it. However, I totally hate that class but my counselor says that it would look good on college application. Should I pursue it or not? Thanks for all of your advice!

Is it in place of a proper academic class? Would the alternative be an AP for example? Or is it an elective?

“Look good” compared to what? What other course could you take in its place?

Honestly, I’m prepping for a 2nd going through college and have been hanging out here for a while and had to Google PLTW. Maybe I’m an outlier, but it doesn’t strike me as a big resume builder - certainly not worth taking if you hate it (almost nothing is).

The most important thing is to take
English, Science (Bio/chem/physics), Math (through pre-calc or better, Calc), History and a Foreign Language (through level 4 if possible).
If you have time for an elective, then PLTW is a fine elective. So is band or Art or whatever.
Project Lead the Way is pre-engineering courses…(that you can get college credit for)…if you don’t want to be a Biomedical Engineer, why take it? PLTW is a way to explore engineering. If this isn’t something you want to explore, don’t take it.

Don’t take courses you hate (except for the 5 main academic above)

@bopper thanks, I’m just taking this class to try out something I have not experienced in, I think I’m gonna drop out of the program next year and take AP Physics 1 instead. Thanks for your advice.

And don’t think of this as a “failure” or “bad thing”…think of it as exploring something and finding out in an easy way (not after 2 years of college) that this isn’t for you. Take the opportunity to explore something new.
