Is PreCalculus necessary for AP Calculus?

At my school, Trig is compacted into PreCalc. I am considering skipping PreCalc and going directly into AP Calculus BC. It's been about a 3.5 weeks in. Do you guys recommend this? I'm in 10th grade BTW. I really enjoy math, so I'm willing to self-study the concepts that I need for Calculus. I self-studied Euclidean (HS) Geometry, so I'm capable of self-studying. I know Trigonometry is really important in Calculus, such as the identities and unit circle.

Main questions:
Do you guys/gals recommend this?

What else is there in PreCalculus that is crucial for Calc?

3 weeks into school? I know I would not be allowed to switch classes this late.

A girl switched into it TODAY. It’s not too late. Block scheduling.

o. Then no, you don’t REALLY need it.

Yeah, I know of quite a few people that skipped precalc, but I guess it depends on the particular class. You can ask your math teacher if they think you’d be able to do it.

My Alg2/Trig teacher said if I do well enough in her class, she will reccommend me to skip pre-calc and regular calc (standard calculus, not AP), and go straight to AP Calc (the best).

My Algebra 2 class did not include trig, but I was epic at Alg. 2. I maintained a high A all year in that class. The teacher was awesome at teaching though.

I should definitely talk to the Calculus teacher. I talked to him last year and he said that I could learn Calculus when I was in Algebra 2 last year 0.o
