Is Prep/Boarding School worth it

I know that schools like Exeter and Groton are top-notch, representing the best in secondary education.

But I have to wonder if they are worth dropping 30K a year. I mean, I got into Dartmouth from a regular old public school.

Since there seems to be quite to contingent of prep school types, I was wondering what some of you thought.

You don't go to prep school to get into college. You go there to prepare for college. For some, public and magnet schools better suit their interests. Prep schools are heavily liberal-arts oriented.

I have to say though, I think prep school really prepared me a lot better for college-level work than being back at my old public school. And for people who can afford it and are motivated, the resources are incredible. It's like college four years early- why not?
