@azwu331 That is awesome! And wow I sure do hope so. What type of engineering are you interested in?
@ccmember11598 I applied for Operations Research and Financial Engineering. Itâs the oddball of Princetonâs engineering concentrations.
@azwu331 I actually listed that as my second choice! I hope they donât think I am all over the place but that sounded extremely interesting to me. Keep me updated on your results mid December!!
@ccmember11598 Good luck!
Iâm a current Princeton student in engineering and I wouldnât necessarily say that is true. They donât admit students to a specific program/major, but they may take in to account what major you say youâre interested and what classes and clubs youâve been in that have to deal with this area of study. They will look at your intended major as part of your overall application and the âtotal packageâ of who you are and what you are interested in. Also, a quick side note, @azwu331, ORFE is more popular than youâd think! @ccmember11598, CBE is supposed to be pretty hard (I have some friends in it). Just make sure to really stay true to yourself in your application, donât say your intended major is something different than what it actually is just because you think it will make it easier to get in; youâre either going to get in or youâre not. The best thing is to be honest in your application; thatâs what I did and I got in. Good luck to both of you, Princeton is awesome!
So- just to hear correctly- it doesnât hurt your admissions chances that much, but applying for engineering puts you in a more competitive pool (especially for science and math kids, they want higher test scores and science/math accomplishments)?
I donât know if this is the case everywhere but MIT says that even though they get half as many female applicants the ones they do get are more qualified on average as a group. So the scores and grades required arenât that different females are just better at self selecting where to apply.
