Is princeton really diverse?

To anybody whos currently attending princeton-how diverse is princeton actually? Do you see people of different backgrounds intermingling and interacting with each other or do people prefer to stick to their own groups and cliques? Do you feel like there is a community atmosphere among students as you would find in a tight-knit LAC or is it factioned, too many students to have a tight atmosphere, etc? How do the other top ivys rank in terms of intermingling among different students and which top ivy has the closest community? thanks

I'd say that princeton is one of the few places where you really do have that sorta intermingling of people from different backgrounds. Obviously there are some cliques, but in general, as far as minorities go, princeton just isn't that big of a school that all the asians and blacks and hispanics etc. can keep to people of their own race. go to any "diverse" state school or penn or cornell and ull find that things are pretty nicely divided by race. Rutgers has a whole campus thats pretty much asian. As far as economic diversity, there's more than one would think at first. There are of course more than enough ridiculously rich kids, but there also plenty kids of modest backgrounds. And there's all types of people. Perhaps the most annoying thing as far as diversity goes is the number of polo and lacoste you see around... but there are plenty of people like me who just like to laugh at it.

I agree with akx. By the way, to akx, what year are you/what major/where do you live? I don't think I know of you, but I dunno...
