I am considering a couple of teachers to ask for recommendations, and I know my sophomore English teacher can write an excellent one (she really likes me and can advocate for how hard I worked because I struggled in her class and finessed an A). I’m a little stuck on the science/math recommendation, though. I’m not an outstanding student in my bio class, and I have heard that the physics teachers at my school don’t write recommendations well. I just want to know if psychology is considered a science because I know my psych teacher can write a really good rec. (I could ask my math teacher too, but my psych could write a more in-depth one). I’m planning to major in either biology or neuroscience.
It’s a social science. Get teh best recs that you can.
Typically psych is not considered a core course. Be sure the colleges on your list don’t want something specific. I know for a few of my D’s school they wanted a core science teacher - bio, chem or physics.
Why not ask both psych and another science teacher? Colleges don’t normally hold it against you if you add anything extra to your application.
My daughter applied and got in to her top choice- she applied as a likely Bio major and her letters are from AP Language and AP Government. She chose teachers that knew her and who she thought could write an enthusiastic and professional letter. I think that is more important than the subject unless the college specifically requires something.
