Is Purdue a top Science University?

I know Purude is an engineering school, but how are its physics and chemistry departments. Do they compare with like MIT for engineering?

Purdue’s physics and chemistry programs are both ranked in the top 50 (with the chemistry program falling in the low 20’s and the physics program near the high 30’s or low 40’s). These rankings, however, should be taken with a grain of salt. Once you hit a certain threshold, the quality of professors and of the education you’ll receive differs marginally at best. Outside of the top 10, the next 20 are essentially equal and what really matters is the experience you receive at the school and the individual faculty members in a department.

P.S. It’s hard for any school to compare to MIT’s engineering department, but I think Purdue is a fantastic school in its own right with many highly regarded programs within its college of engineering.
