Hi I am currently a highschool sophomore and my dream school is Penn I want to major in Marketing at Wharton. I have good stats so far; but out of curiosity would being Mexican be to my advantage? I am very ambitious and will be a first generation in attending college whichever it may be. Any responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

First generation? That is a great advantage! Hispanic is a good advantage.

Thanks for the information! :D

Yes! You’re very lucky to both be hispanic and first generation. If your grades and scores are anywhere near the applicant pool, you should have no problem getting into Wharton or any one of the other top schools. Good luck (to both of us! - I’m caucasian, and both parents attended college so I have that working against my favor… :P)

Thanks for the information! haha hopefully I get in and you too! But I don’t really think I’m lucky since it’s the fact that I am hispanic(low-income & immigrants) that makes it a plus since I would be at a “disadvantage” because of this. But yes it is harder for caucasians I’m aware. Nonetheless I’m sure you can get in with hardwork to any school you wish to attend =) Thanks again for replying!
