Is raising SAT score a good idea?

I'm enrolling at my safety school but would still like to try again at my reach (which happens to be an Ivy) and other top tier schools. My sat score and gpa in high school were mediocre, but I was thinking of retaking the SAT in Jan. and aiming for a 3.8+ gpa in college. Do you think attempting to raise my SAT score will do me any justice since I'm not taking it while in high school? Any other advice is also greatly appreciated.

If you will apply after your first year, I think its in your interest to retake it, especially if you want to transfer to an Ivy.
Also, try to get the highest GPA you can, continue any EC’s you may have had in hs. Also, try to get to know atleast 2 of your profs really well, this will come in hand when you need to submit recs.

What was the score?

it was in the 1600 range =</p>

and thanks hahahah, your advice was very helpful!
