Is really North/New a "too much party" dorm?

I really liked North but I keep reading that there are parties there 24/7 and if you want to study you need to leave the room.
How true is it? Is it a convinient place to live ?
Any other info is very welcomed!

College is where you will need to learn how to “parent” yourself, so if you need to study, then you will have to arrange for quiet time in order to do so. There is a lot of socializing at New/North, but it is conveniently located and it is easy to make friends there. USC does have at least one 24/7 library- there is always a quiet place to study. Your roommate may like to party, play video games, listen to loud music, etc., so you will have to work things out together so you both get the quiet time you need.

(cut and pasted from my previous post)
Here’s from my S who lived in NEW last year:

-It is definitely possible to choose whether you want to party or not. If S needed to study or was sick, and Roommate wanted to party, R would go elsewhere (or vice-versa.)

-The noise never woke S up or kept him from going to sleep. He says the walls are pretty thick.

-Even though it is known as a Party Dorm, the majority of students there are not big party-ers. There are, of course, a few who are very outgoing and tend to set that reputation. But it is like anything else like this. People see the loud ones and a stereotype is set based on those. There IS a balance of different types of students.

-S is in Marshall, had five classes each semester while in NEW, and did very well in all of his classes that year.

I stayed in New/North when I visited USC. It’s definitely one of the more social dorms, but you could live there and not be the biggest party animal. From what my friend told me, most of the students in New/North rush, so if you plan to rush you’ll be around a lot of others who choose to as well. I believe my friend told me that it’s not in the best of condition in comparison to the other dorms. So if you’re looking for luxury, New/North is probably not for you. However, they do have sinks in the room, which I thought was kind of nice.

^not all New/North dorms have sinks in the room. You have to request one and pay extra. Those are usually the first to go so if you want one, you have to put your name in early.

True that. Also, if you want your own private bathroom, air conditioning, and don’t mind being a two minute walk off campus, the dorms at the Radisson are supposed to be really nice.

yah New/North really isnt that crazy. I lived on the first floor, and it could get pretty quiet there. Also, no matter what floor you are on, if you need to work, you can just shut your door.

Could someone explain to me how the bathroom/shower thing works? Like, are each of the showers separated by a curtain??! or what lol

Bathrooms were separated into individual stalls, with either a curtain or a door blocking you from the outside common area. Whether or not you have a curtain or a door just depends on where in New or North you live.
