hi i'm a korean living in korea, planning to graduate a korean high school(that just kinda came out..lol)

i'm dead scared about applying to american colleges cuz like i'm the only one preparing for it in our school and i practically know more than our so called 'counselor' does about the admissions, and i'm still learning new stuff everytime i log in CC(thanx, everyone!!! ;-))

something i heard about U of M is their rolling admission, something about the administrators evaluating applications as soon as they come in. In other words, submitting early has better chances(right?!)

but does sending my application late(i mean... i didn't even start writing my app essays;;;) have THAT bad an influence for my chances???

i'm really interested in U of M and i'm planning to attend there if i get accepted, but i really feel the need to have some 'confirmed' information

oh and i am an american citizen(i don't know if that helps...lol)

and here are my stats, just for some preference and honest evaluation

sats
NEW SAT : (May) V/M/W 680/780/580 (i feel sick whenever i see that writing score..essay 6...I WAS NERVOUS) ~ 2060
(Oct) V/M/W 650/790/710 (essay 9) ~ 2150
SAT2 : Bio 800 Math 2c 800 (planning chem for nov... aiming for another 800)

gpa : 3.8~3.9(between there... korea uses a different scoring scale but i'm positive my converted GPA will be around there), and my school is a magnet school

rank : our school doesn't rank

APs : none(didn't even know their existence until...like...Feb..lol)

ECs : 4 yrs class representative
captain of the english drama club : won the best club of the year
starting member of our basketball team during a match with an american army high school
tae-kwon-do 3rd degree black belt
a handful of leadership camps..
representative of school for the Asian Games Host City Allied Youth Camp
1st place in school english speaking contest
other insignificant awards...

voluntary work : around 100hrs

work ex : none

recommendations : dazzling

app essays : haven't even started

thanks for reading and i hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Well, if you feel sick when you see your W score, cheer up...Michigan does not look at the W section. So your SAT score, as far as Michigan is concerned, is 1460. Well done! Along with your 3.8 unweighed GPA, I'd say that you are in good shape. Apply as soon as you can and the rest will take care of itself.

With those stats, it's not like you HAVE to apply extremely early. To me like pre-december would be alright for sending it in, but maybe someone else would object

yeah, is that how i'm supposed to write that?!^^;;;
cuz one of the ppl i know used 'degree' and i kinda thought that was right cuz i thought the administrators wouldn't know the word 'dan'...lol
