Is rescoring the AP Exam worth it?

Hello, so just yesterday I recieved my AP score report, and was sorely disappointed to see I got a three on my APUSH exam. I really felt I did well walking out of that test, especially on the multiple choice. I studied hard to, and on my practice test was well into the five range. I had an A in my APUSH class, and my teacher said anyone who made an A was probably destined for a four or five. Yet... my AP score didn't rise to the occasion. xD

So, my questions are (and you don't have to answer them all, just ones you have feedback or personal experience on), is it worth getting it rescored and what are they looking for when the rescore? Has anyone gotten a three rescored before and gotten something higher? If the score they give me is actually lower, will that replace my original score or can I opt to take back the original? Oh, and is there anyway to check that something might have gone wrong before I pay the fee?

Also, just another note... I know that I'm not the best of standardized test takers, more than likely because of my anxiety issues. So it might not have been a fluke after all. I did get a three the previous year on my AP Euro exam as well. Still, I really felt I did better than a three this time. =/

I hope I don't sound snotty talking about this, I know a three isn't the end of the world, it's just not accepted to most colleges I'm trying for. So yeah... it would be good to hear other opinions about what to do...

“is it worth getting it rescored and what are they looking for when the rescore?”

They only rescore the multiple choice portion (they will not look at the free response section). So unless your multiple choice section was somehow misgraded the first time, it is unlikely that your score will change.

" If the score they give me is actually lower, will that replace my original score or can I opt to take back the original? "

I’m not sure, but I do not believe that they give you that option.

“Oh, and is there anyway to check that something might have gone wrong before I pay the fee?”

Unless collegeboard tells you (without your request) that it is going to rescore your test, I don’t think there is anyway to find out without paying.

I’m no expert, so please forgive me if I’m mistaken.

Hm… now I’m just curious how many stories there are out there of a score actually being messed up and getting raised. I really don’t want to pay the 25 dollars if wasn’t screwed up… that would be a waste. =/ But if I paid the money and the score was messed up it would be worth every cent. xD
