Does SAT play an important role in the admission process at Middlebury?
provided that my grades, ECs are decent.
i had a 1920 for SAT with a 540 on CR section
and I plan to apply to Middlebury as ED.
Do I have a chance?

People ask, so I am going to answer as I suspect that the truth is what their after. 540 is low. Really low compared to attending students’ stats. And attending students’ stats are typically slightly lower than those of accepted students.

But I also think that testing is just one piece of a much more complicated process. And I also think you should apply where you want to apply. This too is important.

If you aren’t hooked, you should try to be in the top 50% of accepted students’ SATs, that is, 2070 or above.

But apply anyway, the SAT alone will certainly not prevent you from getting in.

Can you get in w a low score? yes
Likelihood? not very good

Ppl don’t understand tht if you don’t have a hook, it’s going to be hard regardless of a high/low score

thanks everyone,
so i guess my chance is only around 20 -30%
since i’m afraid my ECs and my grades are not so impressive

Well it depends on your background! SAT is only one of many factors that an elite school looks after. Well Wesleyan is not Harvard and so it does not look for numbers but individuals. If you can demonstrate that you are indeed a good student and language has been a problem for you, accodingly, then you’re in good hands! SAT is one of six or seven major factors that show who you are. Who you are as a person is what matters, not your scores. There are many other ways to find that out by looking at your transcript, extraculiculours, recommendations, talents, etc…You’re uniquenss and what you can contribute as well is important.

Ok Ok! I am really going nuts! I mean to say Middlebury instead of Wesleyan! You see this is just one effect of being super stressed about which college to go to!! My bad!

In reality, Harvard builds a class no diffidently than Midd, Wesleyan or any other top LAC.

Harvard rejects more than half the applicants with perfect SATs

Have you taken the ACT? That might be an option, if your SATs haven’t been sent.

Page # 9 will give you an indication of your chances.
