I'm considering applying ED, but I don't see any reason for them to accept me.

I don't really have ECs that show my passion in computer science, and my SATs and GPA aren't exactly helping. I'm trying to improve my CR score, but it won't go up very much. If I don't even stand a chance, I'd rather apply ED somewhere else.

Sorry for making another chance thread, haha.

hey you have a good chance, can u pm me the name of the programming and computer club you did? Thanks!

Um. They are called Programming Club and Computer Club at the school I attend, so I’m not too sure what you’re asking for.

Thanks for your response.

I’d also like to mention that my grades in math and science are only in the low 90s although I managed to receive A+'s for my computer science classes. Would this hurt my chances too much?

I think you have a good chance. I expect being female will be a bit of a plus, your scores should be okay, though obviously it would be nice to have a slightly higher CR score but you’ve got a great writing score which may well offset that a bit - not to mention a 5 on the English language AP.

Thanks for the reply.

So it’s okay that my CR score is below the 25th percentile with a good writing score? Also, I thought they didn’t factor in AP Exam grades.

It seems like it’s worth trying so far.

CMU’s forum is very quiet, but does that mean there’s less competition? x]

I think I’ll try SCS anyway; I hope I’m not being overconfident.

I think you mean you CR score is below the 75th percentile.

In any case, a 630 won’t hurt much since the 25th percentile at CMU is 620, and CR doesn’t matter that much for computer science.

The 25th percentile for SCS is 660 according to CMU’s website. I do hope you’re right that CR doesn’t matter much; reading long, intimidating passages under stress and a short time limit is not fun at all.

I don’t think the CR score matters that much for CS. You have great math and writing scores, as well as great SAT II and AP scores. Being a female also helps. Your chances look very good to me.

If CR doesn’t matter much, I’ll definitely apply ED.

Will they accept my math II score in November if I apply ED I?

Can someone answer my question in my last post? :x Thank you

I think they’ll accept your November Math II score. My son applied ED I to SCS two years ago, and they accepted his November SAT I scores.

I think you have a good chance.
