Is SEAS worth 10,000 a year in debt?

I really like SEAS, but do you think for computer engineering or computer science it is worth 40,000 in debt when I graduate undergrad? I know its not ranked the highest in engineering (and I do plan on pursuing engineering), but my other financial aid offers have been a lot worse, so it's either 40,000 for Columbia or nothing for my state school, University of Florida.

So, do you think it's worth the debt?

i will be in a similar situation if admitted to columbia. i will have a full ride at state school, UNC, but probably 40,000+ debt if i attend columbia GS.

unfortunately, i don't have any real advice, just sympathy. it's a tough choice.

UNC and UF are both great schools (especially UNC), but I know I would have trouble deciding in your shoes.

meh I'm visiting Columbia this weekend for DoC, and I know what UF is like already, so I guess I'll asses while I'm there if it's worth it

your debt at Columbia is only a quarter of mine. lol. The difference is I don't want to study engineering anymore. I thought I did when I applied, but now I don't. I have to negotiate and see if I can transfer into CC.

I think I'm probably going after visiting Caltech and USC (full scholarship) and realizing that they're probably not the right place for me.

You mean will going to CU give you $40K more income present valued over your lifetime than if you went to UF? Probably not. But there's more to the question of "worth" than that.
