Other than possibly receiving college credit, is self studying different AP courses worth it? Will all the time and money you invest into self studying APs pay off down the road or is it just overrated?

How many APs have you studied or plan on studying if any?

Self-studied and passed AP Chinese last year with a 5, and planning to self-study for AP Psychology this year.

I am also wondering if its worth it for college admissions as well. My school barely offers AP courses, so I’m trying make up for the lack of AP courses with AP exams.

I self-studied four. I passed them all, but no 5s.

AP Calculus BC - did it so I could take more advanced classes at a local university.
Statistics - started out as an online class, but I dropped it.
US History - same as Statistics.
US Government - didn’t fit in my schedule, so I self-studied it so I’d have all my school’s APs done before senior year so I could take dual-enrollment classes full time without feeling like I was missing something.

If I have time, I might self-study one of the economics tests this year for college credit, but I’m not sure. I’ll probably be too busy.
