I was accepted to Seton Hall as an International Relations and Diplomacy major back in October, and was recently accepted into the Honors Program. However, after hearing back from other schools I am not sure if I should continue to include Seton Hall in my college decision making process. For reference I am deciding between UVA, William and Mary, Holy Cross, and Washington and Lee. What about Seton Hall should make me keep it on the list? Does the Honors Program boost it above the rest?
All good schools, but my view would be that the others are a cut above Seton Hall. Is money a factor?
Possibly, I am waiting to hear back about a ROTC scholarship which would take that out of the picture. If I do not receive the scholarship Seton Hall would be the cheapest.
Honestly I don’t think Seton Hall even with the Honors Program is in the same class as the other schools on your list.
The above posters are correct in that UVA and W&M are better tier schools than Seton Hall Honors. The Honors program models its structure after the Core Curriculum from the Ivy League. It was worth it just for the exposure, and I think its rigor puts it a cut above W&L and Holy Cross (Seton Hall is on their level already)
Without the Honors Program is Seton Hall still on the same level as Washington and Lee, and College of the Holy Cross? I’m just curious. @BucsAlum123
Seton hall without honors is NOT on the same level of holy cross and Washington and lee. Not even close. The honors program might put it closer. I’ve heard their honors program offers majors for reduced credits. For example(choosing random numbers) instead of requiring 100 credits for a major if you weren’t in honors they only require 75 so it makes it easier to double and even triple major. I heard if someone graduating with four majors a few years ago. If you were to take full advantage of he school while you were there and apply your self 100% then I can’t see why it wouldn’t be a better option that the more prestigious schools.
Just as an update, albeit a few months late, I ended up choosing W&L. I loved the atmosphere when I visited and prioritized their Honor System and Greek influence during my decision making - two factors I originally did not consider much. Seton Hall is an amazing institution, but it just did not offer certain programs and experiences I found myself valuing more than expected. Thank you all for your help and opinions!
@hurley1 Congratulations on your choice of W & L. Thank you for taking the time to update the thread
