I was sexually abused for some time in middle school. This is really relevant to one of my extracirriculars as it shows that I had to overcome adversity in order to do what I wanted. I want to talk about this in the "additional info:" section of the common app. Do you think this is a bad idea?

I’m in a similar boat to you, but it’s in my essay and on a slightly different topic. bumppppp

I do think it is a bad idea, yes.

I think it is a bad idea to put into writing anything that you wouldn’t want known widely. Because once you put information into writing, you lose control over its distribution.

Is this something that you want people to know about you already when they meet you for the first time? Or when they know only one thing about you? If not, then I wouldn’t recommend writing about it.
