so i’ve recieved admission to a few schools now, but financially none of the schools that i’ve gotten into so far are reasonable except for sf state. i’m a california state resident so sfsu wouldn’t be breaking the bank in terms of tuition and fees, but i have major drawbacks about the program and the overall environment of sfsu. i would be a cinema major at sfsu because ultimately i want to go into some facet of film production and screenwriting. i’ve heard that the cinema program at sfsu is one of their best majors, but i was wondering if coming out of sfsu there would be good opportunities for me and if the cinema program is worth it to attend (because going to film school at all i feel is somewhat risky).
my main concerns are that the program won’t be beneficial and that the school itself might not be the best fit for me just because of how many reviews i’ve heard of people saying its like “a bigger high school” (which is never appealing). if anyone has any experience with the sfsu undergraduate cinema program please let me know your honest opinions on how it is, as it is the best choice for me financially, but i want to make sure that i’ll actually be happy where i end up for college.
