Is she in?

Hey people! in early February, my friend from China who applied to Wellesley RD received the following e-mail from the Board of Admission. Do you guys think that the fact that she applied RD, but already receiving such early acknowledgment from the admissions office is a good sign? Does this mean she has a good chance in getting in? Thanks for any comments!

Dear XXXX (friend's name),

Thank you very much for your application to Wellesley College. We are in
the process of reviewing applications, and we have not yet received your
Mid-Year Report form. If your guidance counselor has recently sent it to
us and it has crossed in the mail with this message, please know that we
will complete the review of your credentials as soon as the Report arrives.
If your Mid-Year Report has not yet been sent, please ask your guidance
counselor to send it as soon as it is available. If your school operates
on a trimester system, we understand that these grades may not be available
until later in the process.

I think they send that to everyone so they can tell each person that they've successfully gotten the application

Actually, they are only telling your friend that one piece of her application is still missing - her midyear report, and missing material is never a good sign. I got a similar letter or e-mail from all the schools I applied to because my midyear report wasn't available until mid February.

actually, my frd already received an application confirmation e-mail from Wellesley prior to this one. but thanks anyway... I hope she gets in!~

Bad sign. They're missing a mid year report.

well, it's not really a bad sign if not a good one... since the e-mail was dated 2 February. I don't think schools would usually send out mid-year reports by early February anyway... so it's probably just a neutral reminder if not a keen "we want to read your stuff ASAP" message...

My daughter got the same message, checked with her guidance counselor, and found the grades had been sent. Yesterday she got her "likely" letter, for what that information's worth to you!

congratz to you and your daughter, Proud Dad! when did your daughter get this message from Wellesley though?
too bad my frd is not allowed to apply EE, since she's an international from China requiring financial aid so she probably won't find out until April since Wellesley doens't send out admissions decisions online this year... :(

I believe the mid-year-report mail was dated the same as yours. I took it as a good sign that they at least hadn't already decided against her and were concerned enough to check. Good luck to your friend!

Wow they must be looking at RD applicants early.
I was EE and my midyear report got there around Feb 1, and I never received a missing item e-mail.
(You'd think I would because EE applicants are supposed to have things in before RDers)

thanks Proud Dad and Ohh miss zanna for your replies! I'll probably see both of you on campus next year! I'm a freshman at Wellesley btw, and so far I'm really loving it here! that's why I'm so anxious about knowing whether my frd is likely to get in or not...
