I am a sociology major in my second year of college and I was wondering how successful is this major in order for me to get into law school. I was a Criminal Justice major at first but I saw that I was taking a lot of sociology courses so I switched. I love taking sociology because it gets me so into what I am learning. However, in my mind, I still feel like this may or may not be the best thing for me to study in order to go to law school.

I don’t believe law schools care very much about what you majored in as an undergraduate. My understanding is that GPA and LSAT scores are the most important parts of your application.

Major doesn’t matter for law school. Just get a 4.0.

Attached is an article summarizing some concerns about sociology majors preparation for law school, including poor LSAT scores on average and a view among some law admission departments that sociology is an easy major with lots of grade inflation.
