Is Stanford becoming a state school?

Heard it was in the near future...I hope this is just a silly rumor

@amoeboid6. Yea…and I also heard that at the end of the year they were leaving the PAC-12 for the AAC…April FOOL!!! :))

<a href=“Stanford to leave Pac-12, join AAC at end of season”>http://www.stanforddaily.com/2014/04/01/stanford-to-leave-pac-12-join-aac-at-end-of-season/</a>

Yes.

But in a surprising twist it will be a Montana state school.

@fluffy2017. No…I thought Peter Thiel and his good buddy Reid Hoffman were going to provide $100,000 to each Stanford college student to stay home and create their own school…Fluffy U sound familiar?

@gravitas2‌

shhhhhh

Things aren’t finalized yet.

edited that out, just in case.
joke about an attempted acronym.

@fluffy2017 :)) :))
I understand that Google founders will be providing valuable floating barges <a href=“Google barges - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_barges</a> around the Bay-area for this new educational entity…

It’s more likely that Stanford will take the State university system private.

I thought this would be a critique of the ridiculously high percentage of California natives in the Stanford class.
Disappointing.

Megalomaniac7 (your’re the 7th meglomaniac?) I picked up on that from your original post. The joke went in another direction so I went with it. Do you really think Stanford favors CA applicants, or are there simply so many more who come from the State? CA is > 10% of the US general population so you would expect a large number anyway. Then there’s proximity. That does count for something. Duke gets most of its applicants from NC and Vandy from TN. So considering those two factors I would expect the pool of applicants and acceptances to be in the 15 - 20% range. Is that what it is? I wonder if it isn’t proportionately harder for a CA applicant at Stanford?
Going back to population, I think if you check CA has is in the top 1-2 or at least top 5 of applicants among all the top National schools in the US.
