Is Stanford for me?

I really want to major in something in the sciences, haven't decided yet, and incorporate technology with it. I'm really good with computers and technology in general and I want to incorporate that skill with my interest in the sciences. I might also go into premed.

Can Stanford cater to my interests? Based off of what I've seen and heard, they can...but I hope some of you guys at Stanford can give me some tips. Thanks.

Yes, definitely. Stanford is strong in all the sciences, pretty much (and the humanities too). If you ever decide to switch majors, and you probably will, you'll have the security of knowing that the major you're switching to is strong. Stanford is particularly well known for its computer science department, so you might look into that.

It'd be beneficial, if you haven't already done so, to go here:

It's pretty helpful; it helped me to affirm my interest in linguistics and computer science -- though, of course, I'm open to exploration, something which you and everyone else should be, too. That's another great thing about Stanford: the course selection allows you to explore your interests before declaring a major.

I'm not interested in using computer science as a major, but rather something along the lines of biomedical engineering. kyledavid80, thanks a lot for all the info! Can anyone else also comment on my original post?

Stanford is pretty much amazing in every subject. And in regards to technology being incorporated, Google and Yahoo! were founded by Stanford grads, so Stanford will have the high tech amenities and utilize them.

Yes, you can do all that at Stanford, and you'll have 2 years to decide on your major, so a lot of possibilities for exploration there.
