im pretty sure stanford is need-aware of internationals.

if im right, all eight ivy league schools are need-blind for canadians.

how about stanford? is it need-blind for canadians?

im pretty sure stanford is need-aware of internationals.

if im right, all eight ivy league schools are need-blind for canadians.

how about stanford? is it need-blind for canadians?

Nope. And no, not all eight Ivies are needblind for Canadians.

^I think this also explains why virtually no Canadian CCers were admitted SCEA.

So far, I've heard of only ONE Canadian (period) who got into Stanford SCEA. And he likely didn't apply for financial aid.

Oh, the horror!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Stanford is need-aware for Canadians.

However, is it need-blind to US applicants?

yep! it is need-blind to domestic applicants (citizens + greencard holders)

by the way, i go to a public school in california
does anyone know if i will compete against internationals or US students?

stanford is NOT need-blind towards all internationals, including canadians

there's this canadian guy last year who got gold for international chemistry olympiad. he was accepted to harvard, mit, princeton etc but rejected from stanford. guess why?

If you are international student including Canadian,
pls don't apply for FA unless money is real issue,
if you really want to go to Stanford.
Otherwise you might be 99% rejected and
you wasted your time working on application,
unless you have a kind of nobel prize or genius & genius....
I rather recommend spending more time
on other schools' applications.

The Canadian guy was my Son and we were suprised
to get deferred from early action and finally rejected.
Not only he got gold medal but also bunch of big awards
and many leadership positions pls high GPA, test results, etc...

That's why I asked all CCers here to see
whether any international student with FA
were accepted, but it looked nobody did.
Now he is very happy with Harvard with almost full ride.
Good luck to every body !!

On the facebook group looks like tons of internationals got financial aid...

2 Singapore
1 Pakistan
1 India
1 Malaysia
1 United Kingdom
1 Oman

Hmmm... interesting... Stanford hates Canada?

So, since basically applying for FA screws over your chances of getting into Stanford if you're an international, does this mean that the international student body at Stanford is over all very wealthy? I mean, they'd have to be to be able to fork over 50k a year.

FB lalaland, it seems that could be true. How weird. I wonder why that is.

Are those this year's EA applicants?

Yah... Stanford 2013. I think the general pattern is, and correct me if I am wrong, that Stanford wants to give money to those in the... less wealthy countries.

"Hmmm... interesting... Stanford hates Canada?"

LOL- Yet another reason to love Stanford.

Hey! What's that suppose to mean?

We should take outside.

nope (10 char.). if you are applying from canada for financial aid, you are screwed.

I'm afraid I have the South Park mentality about Canada. I just don't get why people live there. It's cold, there's nothing to do, and even the New York Police Department is larger than the Canadian army.

Hahahaha. This guy's serious!

Wow. "I just don't get why people live there."

Blame Canada?

My cousin who is Canadian, went to Washington in St. Louis and now is at Standford for Medical. They take canadians, but it is harder :).

Yes we Canadians live in igloo, put maple syrups on everything and say "eh?" at the end of every single sentence...
