<p>I was just wondering how it goes at other schools. It's really big at my school and they get a ton of funding.</p>

<p>It’s not big at my school. Most of the kids are there for popularity reasons and don’t really do much. Most of the events they organize don’t usually get a lot of people interested.</p>
<p>They’re present and most people could probably name one or two people who are in it if asked. What is good is that they do actually get things done (they got some broken clocks replaced, got the school to repaint the staircases, etc.), which is way different from my middle school.</p>
<p>We have a student council that is somewhat effective. Most of the work is done by a handful of executives and prominent members. Luckily, the executives tend to be fairly good and aren’t chosen based solely on popularity. However, the general body of student council is far too large and unwieldy because, thanks to our principal, everyone who applied was admitted. Also, student council is severely limited in its powers in terms of what resources we can use, where events can be hosted, and the general bureaucracy that has to be dealt with.</p>
<p>I’m not really sure, and I’m Vice President. The class officers are pretty much a joke, as the elections are a popularity contest and they don’t actually do anything. Nor do they show up for Student Council. Our Student Council takes care of school events, pep rally, fundraisers for the classes, prom, the yearbook, and senior trip, amongst other things. It has a small but fairly dedicated group of students who participate. We mostly deal with the student life at the school.</p>
<p>I’m the Sophomore class president, and… I really haven’t done anything. At all. So, I probably would answer no. Either that, or I’m just a horrible/clueless president.</p>
<p>53 people are in student government at my school: 13 guys and 40 girls.</p>
<p>Haha Class2015, there’s a similar ratio at my school- counting me, 10 guys 23 girls. Are you in it?</p>

<p>Student government at my school is really big. I’m in student government and we really do plan the pep rallies, prom, homecoming, spirit nights, and everything like that. We meet with the DJ and are responsible for ordering the refreshements. Overall, it’s extremely student-led. Very rarely do the adult moderators step in. Additionally, our student government is EXTREMELY service-oriented (which I love) so when it comes down to raising money for charity, that’s extremely student-driven as well.</p>
<p>Kids don’t do student government at my school who aren’t willing to put in a lot of work, so it makes it nice to truly have a group of dedicated students.</p>
<p>Our student government practically runs the school (except for academics, of course).</p>
<p>Popularity contest at my school. One girl got kicked out because the principal saw a picture of her with a beer can. Funny thing is that the whole student gov parties and drinks… They are great representatives…</p>
<p>@nervousohio (and anyone else) are the refreshments at your dances free? Because we sometimes sell Rita’s but thats as far as any food or drink goes.</p>
<p>At my school the student gov is great,but the rest of the school just refuses to participate,and loves to complain about every single thing we do.</p>
