Is study abroad right for me? (DIS Copenhagen or others)

My main motivator for studying abroad is that it is a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and I think being in a new environment would be good for my personal growth. I was thinking of DIS Copenhagen because I like the defined structure but am open to other options.

Background: I’m an introvert and shy at new people/meeting new people. I have traveled to a lot of countries with my parents during summers, and I don’t really enjoy it. (I’m an only child, and I have fun on cruises with my extended family including cousins my own age. However, that’s not really traveling).

I haven’t studied with DIS Copenhagen so I can’t offer much insight on that.

However, as a frequent traveler and introvert, I absolutely recommend you at least try studying abroad! Traveling with family can sometimes have its ups and downs, but going by yourself is another matter altogether.

I used to be extremely quiet in school. Didn’t socialize much. :frowning: Then in freshman year of high school, I went on an exchange trip to Germany. It was a completely refreshing experience. I am so happy I did it, as it not only opened my eyes to the world, but helped me step out of my comfort zone as well. I remember this really unique feeling, like feeling alone in the great big world, but all of a sudden so in touch with, well, everything.
I’m still an introvert, and I’m still quiet in class, but not as much. It’s more of a quiet self-confidence.

If you’re still not sure about going abroad, I suggest doing a bit of solo-traveling before making a decision. See how you like the immersion in a foreign country!

A lot of babbling, sorry, but overall I totally suggest at least testing the waters! Best of luck.
