Is switching your foreign language a turnoff?

Particularly for the University of Florida. I have taken two years of Spanish but this year I want to take a Latin class online instead. Is switching languages a big turnoff?

no I don’t think so. I have taken 5 years of french and im going to switch to a new language next year. Actually, in your case, taking one more year of spanish would be a good idea, but after that you can switch…or take two lanugage classes at a time…its not a huge turnoff but it looks a little bad

The U of Florida requires 2 years of a foreign language, at least according to my cursory review of the admissions requirements. Check it for yourself on-line. If it’s still not clear, call or email them. This is just a simple factual question.

I was told by certain counselors/teachers of mine that by taking basic levels of a language and switching to another language in a way shows lack of commitment.

Having taken only two years of Spanish, assuming Spanish I and Spanish II, I don’t think it’d be prudent to drop the language to take Latin.

I don’t know about the University of Florida, but in general, yes.
