As long as you meet all the requirements is TAG a guaranteed way to get accepted into ucs?

TAG= TRANSFER ADMISSION GUARANTEE

So I’m gonna go with YES.

Then why doesnt everyone sign up for it?

i don’t think that a lot of people even knows it exists actually. before joining this site i had no idea what a TAG was, let alone that if I signed one I would be guaranteed admission to some UC’s.

TAG, the G stands for Guarentee.

The reason why most people do not sign up for TAG is because they either
- didn’t know about it
- don’t go to a California Community College
- don’t want to do all the work (lazy) of meeting up with the counselor from the TAG desired college and etc.
- don’t want to sign up for it because they’re applying to other UC’s (UCLA and Berkeley) that do not have TAG

Some other people are unable to fulfill it because of their current GPA is below the average needed and coursework required was unfulfilled.

I’m going to say yes.

I did TAG and I got into UCSD. All I had to do was meet with a counselor, sign a paper saying I understood the requirements and check off a box on my application. On my status, I have a provisional contract that lists the TAG requirements to keep my acceptance, etc.

I agree that many people just don’t know about or their CC/choice UC doesn’t offer it. The newly changed TAG for Fall 2009/Winter 2010 is INCREDIBLY SIMPLE, all you need is IGETC and a 3.0 UC GPA. This change is only temporary because they plan to rework it to make it more available or something - I expect it to be more complicated in the future, contracts from past years had nothing to do with IGETC and had many, many more requirements for TAG.

Note that what I said above only refers to UCSD’s TAG, not other campuses.

[Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) 2009-2010](http://www.ucsd.edu/prospective-students/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/transfer/tag.html)

kiwi, igetc doesn’t have to be finished before signing the tag right?

Nope, you’re fine.

I think signing the TAG just means you ‘intend’ to do what the requirements are, in this case IGETC. I only filed for my IGETC certification a few weeks ago and finished my last class over winter break. They will be expecting the certificate to reach them and look at your transcripts to see if you followed through.

i haven’t even done igetc and i used tag to get into UC Davis and UCSC. as long as you meet the requirements specific to the college, you’re good. you have to do a contract with your counselor and they send in your paperwork to the school. talk to your counselor at school. tag rocks! great way to make fall back schools a sure thing!

Can I sign up for TAG for UCSB and still be able to apply normally to UCB?

Kiwi-eyes, you from NZ?

Nope! I am not.

I was told by my counselor that I could not do TAG because I had previously attended a 4 year university before coming to CCC…otherwise, I would of definitely done so

i didn’t do TAG because i didn’t have enough units during fall to sign up for it. i think you need like 30 units and IGETC done by fall semester before transfer. i only had 21.

IGETC is required? What if you’re doing engineering?

If you’re not going to finish IGETC you can’t do TAG. The school of engineering won’t guarantee you admission anyways, just UCSD.
