Hello I was wondering if taking real analysis, linear algebra, and applications of discrete math in the same semester would be doable.
Note: I will also be taking an honors seminar on the future of New York City as well as honors English composition 2 that semester
I think that we need more information. Are you in high school or college? What year? Are you a math major? How have your grades been up to now and to what extent have you felt stressed / bored / overworked /…? What else will be you be taking? Your user name makes me wonder if you are a CS major, but if so why would you take three math courses at once? If you are a CS major I would probably drop real analysis and take the other two.
Personally I didn’t like real analysis at all. Linear algebra I found relatively straightforward and useful. I don’t remember taking the third course. I was a math major and found taking three math course at once sort of refreshing when I found three that I liked.
I was originally cs but am now changing to a major in math with minor In cs. I am a sophomore in college, I got a 5 on the BC calc exam, I got an A in calc 3, and right now I got an A on both of my first two exams in partial differential equations. I don’t have much trouble in math, but my concern was that I have never taken more than one at a time so I didn’t know if taking 3 would be too much next semester.
Add up the hours of PSets and see if you have enough time. Does your school post the avg number hours srudents study for a given class?
This would generally be considered a bad idea unless maybe you have taken one or two of the classes before and you are taking them again for extra credit
No my school doesn’t post the avg number of hours but they are all 4 credit courses so I would imagine they have a good amount
Thanks to all the advice I think I’m going to swap discrete math for Islamic history so I won’t be overloaded.
