I want to apply to ivy league colleges as an international student. My school does not provide AP or IB classes. So, I may not be able to write AP or IB exams. Is taking these exams compulsory to get an admission into top 15 colleges in usa? If i do not write these exams will it affect my admission into Princeton university and other ivy league colleges?

All selective colleges judge you in the context of your school and they don’t hold it against you if your school doesn’t offer AP’s, IB’s, sports, band etc. They just want to hear from your guidance counselor in the Secondary School Report (SSR) that you’ve taken the “Most Demanding” academic schedule at your school. So, if your school doesn’t offer AP’s or IB’s, don’t worry about it – concentrate on taking what is considered to be the most rigorous course schedule your school has to offer. Check out the top section, especially the top right hand section, of page 2 on the SSR: http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/documents/UG_Admissions_SecondarySchoolReport.pdf

What country are you in?
If your country’s school system does not offer IB/AP classes, you should take the equivalent, ie., demanding classes for national exams. Example would include A-Levels, for instance.
