Is it a bad idea to take psych 111 before psych 110?

I'm considering majoring in psychology and on the Emory page it's recommended that psychology 110 be taken before psychology 111. However, psych 111 doesn't say anything about 110 being a prerequisite on OPUS or the course atlas...I really want to take a psych course at Emory but all the classes seem to be closed and I can't take any upper level courses unless I complete 110 or 111, and unfortunately I don't have AP credit since I only made a 3 on the exam :(

I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks in advance guys!

It doesn’t matter. The two are not really congruent w/one another. Psyche 111 is the easier of the two and is more like AP psyche in HS whereas psyche 110 can get pretty intense. It doesn’t matter which order you take them in. If you are looking for a less rigorous schedule this semester, then just take 111. You will be at no disadvantage against those that took psyche 110 (other than them being used to a more intense environment). I’ve even seen more motivated students take 111 and 110 simultaneously (however, the research study participation requirements must be fullfilled for both courses, making for an intense semester).

Oh wow that’s a relief! I was worried I’d have to wait until someone dropped 110. Thanks Bernie! :D
