I'd like to take Chemistry, Physics 1, and Calc AB at the same time. Is that okay?

yes

I mean, in terms of difficulty.

Chemistry will be the most challenging of the 3, but those three togther are doable.

There will be some level of stress, but it should be completely manageable. The chem exam will probably be the hardest for you, but it’s not horrible. For difficulty of the course, talk to upperclassmen at your school. There is a lot of variation in workload and difficulty between teachers.

I’m kinda “unique.” I am the only one that knows of this in my school, though students did take it in the past. Thing is that it’s virtual.

If they’re virtual, does that mean that they’re in addition to a full schedule? If they are, then it will be considerably more difficult to manage than I previously stated. It will probably be possible if you have good time management, but expect to lose sleep.

If they are part of your normal schedule, disregard the above. The fact that your school’s letting you do it indicates that you’ll be fine.

That is what I am going to figure out next week or so with my counsel. In my junior year, there is a chemistry class, so AP Chemistry can replace that. However, I have no idea how Physics 1 and Calc AB would fit. I’ll literally fight to at least take two AP courses junior year and three/+ AP courses senior year, god-willing.

How was your experience with it? Easy/hard, lengthy, all-nighters?

I have not taken all those courses together, so I can’t say for sure. However, I have taken Chem and Calc BC in the same year, and Physics C the following year. The teachers in your school will dictate the workload. Mine was pretty arduous, but still doable. Time management skills are the key. Lab reports can be pretty time consuming, but I never pulled an all-nighter.

It shouldn’t be that bad. AP Chem isn’t as bad as people say it is… Just study efficiently. I heard AP Physics 1 isn’t really hard since it’s algebra based. AP Calc may be a big jump in math and maybe a bit challenging.

I’m a big fan of math, though not perfect at it. I decided anyway to take history, still choosing between APUSH and APEH.

AP chem is moderate and AP physics 1 and calc ab shouldn’t be hard. You’ll be fine. Most people take about the same their Junior year, so no worries.

If you only had to take one AP, which one would you prefer the most in terms of benefits in the long term?

@BeCambridge Any of those are solid choices - depends on where you intend to focus in the future. Chem and Physics are both great choices as far as sciences - if you want to do do engineering in the future, I’d look more at Physics because you might think about doing Physics C later on. Calc AB is also excellent, as it will prepare you for Physics C and any other engineering courses. Not to say that Chem isn’t a good choice, it all depends on where you intend to focus. If I had to pick just one, I’d probably say Calc because that is one of the more difficult ones and it’s often good to get more exposure to it earlier on. But that’s just my opinion.
