Is taking three SAT Is and two ACTs too many times?

Most people know that you shouldn't take the SAT more than three times because colleges will think you're just trying to get lucky, but what if I take the SAT three times and the ACT twice? Is that acceptable?

I think that 3 SATs and 2 ACTs is the borderline of acceptable. I don’t think you should take either test more than 3 times, but taking both 3 times looks desperate. But yes, I think you should be fine as long as you don’t take it again.

On a side note, one kid applied to Harvard who had taken the SAT 17 times.

Generally, there isn’t much to be gained out of taking the SAT or ACT more than two or three times. Unless there is intense coaching, score boosts won’t probably happen for the SAT after the third test.

With the ACT, since it is more relevant to the subjects you are taking in school, if you took it as a sophomore and then a junior and a senior, you would probably notice some score boosts. If you took it three times in Senior year, not so much.

Well, I took the ACT twiceand just took the SAT for the 3rd time so I HOPE that it doesn’t look bad and I hope I went up! On my second ACT I went up a lot in all but one section (went down in that one) I went up a lot on my 2nd SAT so I hope the third time is a charm!
