Is talking about non-concrete stuff bad?

Ive been working on my common app main essay, and it focuses mainly on a number of my own views.

so my question is, is an essay bad if it doesnt really refer to specific occurrences or things? (this is a horrible question, but im really tired, hope someone kinda gets what i mean)

An essay is bad if it’s a bad essay. Be sure you’re showing and not just telling (see [here](<a href=“Show, Don’t (Just) Tell -- Jerz's Literacy Weblog (est. 1999)”>Show, Don’t (Just) Tell -- Jerz's Literacy Weblog (est. 1999))).
